Stalag XI B Fallingbostel, Germany
POW No. 118198

The aspect of Stalag IX B Fallingbostel changed since the number of prisoners greatly increased in September-October 1944. A large number of British prisoners arrived direct from the Western Front more particularly from Holland. The majority of the fresh POW (British and American) arrived in the camp were parachutists. New prisoners arrived daily, including a large proportion of wounded. Stalag XI B Fallingbostel became mainly a durchgangslager (Dulag) or transit camp for the walking wounded, but only NCOs and Other Ranks: officers arriving at Fallingbostel were transferred after a few days to Stalag IX A/H of A/Z, which acted as officers' Dulags.
