Biography

John was the son of John and Mary Elizabeth (Callaghan) Walsh. He was a navigator of a Flying Fortress with the 331st Bomber Squadron, 94th Group, and was killed in action over Freisack (near Berlin), Germany in WWII. John was a graduate of the University of Notre Dame, where he was class president. His brother, William B. Walsh, was also killed in Germany, which prompted their brother, Austin, to be returned home from his service in New Guinea, as the last surviving son of the Walsh family. William is buried in the grave next to John.
