Jacob Esveld was born on May 17th, 1920 as son to Cornelis Esveld (February 11th 1892, Hazerswoude - May 8th, 1976, Amersfoort) and Gerritje van Zwol (May 24th, 1891, Amersfoort - October 20th, 1963, Amersfoort). On March 4th, 1944 he was, as junior traindriver, seriously wounded when his train was ataacked from the air. He died on March 9th in the hospital.
