Biography

Nicolaas Arnoldus Ouwerkerk was born on September 15th, 1900 as son to Traindriver Nicolaas Cornelis Ouwerkerk and Hendrika van de Grint. He was married to Lisa Catharina van den Dungen and lived at Eindhoven. Ther he worked as traindriver with the Dutch Railways. On May 31st, 1944 he was the driver of Train 638 from Eindhoven to Amsterdam when this train was attaxcked by US fighter bombers from 360th Fighter Squadron near Culemborg at Km 18.2. Traindriver Ouwerkerk and eight traintravellers were killed and five others wounded.
