Rippavilla Plantation

In this house, CSA Lieutenant General John Bell Hood met with his senior lieutenants here on the morning of 30 November 1864. He would learn that the Union army had escaped during the overnight hours. The house is now a museum with a restored interior, including Civil War artifacts.

The Battle of Spring Hill, on 29 November 1864, was a Confederate attack to prevent the Union troops to achieve Franklin. In the night of 29 to 30 november, the Union troops managed to escape so they were able the strengthen the Union defense line for the Second Battle of Franklin, the following day.
