Bust of Pedro Velarde y Santillán

This memorial at the Museo Etnográfico de Cantabria Casa Velarde commemorates the Cantabrian artillery captain Pedro Velarde y Santillán, a hero of the Peninsular War who was killed during the uprising on 2 May 1808 (Dos de Mayo) in Madrid against the French occupation. He was born in Muriedas.
