Crash Site Fokker C.V #645

The Fokker C.V 645 crashed along the Slootweg due to engine problems on 12 May 1940. The fighter returned from a mission to attack German formations at the Afsluitdijk. Two crew members survived the crash. The pilot, E. Hoekstra, along with Kapt.-wrn C.G.R. van Marcelis Hartsinck, managed to escape (without approval) to France with another plane after the Dutch capitulation. Hoekstra decided to return to Holland, while Hartsinck reached England.
