At the municipal cemetery of Wetteren are remembrance stones for one resistance fighter and six political prisoners who died in concentration camps during the Second World War.
It concerns PONNET Remi, 14 September 1944; WANTE Cyriel, 30 March 1945; VERSTUYFT Arthur, 23 March 1945; VANKERCKHOVE Adolf, 17 February 1945; TREMERIE Georges, 4 October 1944; BOSSAER Camille, 7 March 1945; BLANCKAERT Paul, 10 October 1944.
