Monument Execution Site Karsava

On 21 (or 23) August 1941 on this place on Naudaskalns hill Jews were shot in groups of 15-20 by local police men and members of the German Sicherheitsdienst (SD). Acoording to a Soviet commission it concerned about 350 Jews from Karsava. A second murder action took place in September 1941. 400 more Jews from Karsava were shot to death. This monument commemorates this mass murder.
