Commonwealth War Graves General Cemetery Zoelen

The General Cemetery of Zoelen contains two Commonwealth burials. These are the graves of Lieutenant J.P. Sedgwick and a unknown British airman. The unknown British airman died on May 10th 1940.

During fights for the river 'De Waal' on March 10th 1945, Luitenant James Philip Sedgwick from Whixley Yorkshire was hit by enemy fire. He was buried in a field grave and was later reburied on the general cemetery of Zoelen Sedgwick has got a Military Cross award that he received in 1944.
