Memorials Staff Sergeant Loval E. Ayers & James T. Davis

This memorial commemorates Sergeant Loval Ayers and James T. Davis, from Livingston. Davis was the first American who was killed in Vietnam, on 22 December 1961.

Text on the Ayers memorial:
Staff Sergeant Loval E Ayers
Ayers Kaserne is named in honor of this soldier from Company B22 infantry, United States Army who was killed in action on 10 February 1945 at Prüm, Germany. He was posthumously awarded the Distinguished Service Cross for extraordinary heroism in action in the defense of his country.

SSG Ayer's Plaques were transferred from Germany to Overton Co. TN and dedicated on Veterans Day Nov.11, 1998.


This German 25cm (10 inch) sMW - schwerer Minen-werfer (heavy mine launcher) stands next to the memorial stones and was captured during World War I.
