Soviet and International War Cemetery Tjøtta

This cemetery is mainly the final resting place of Russian prisoners of war who died in northern Norway during the Second World War. Among them are the victims of the MS Rigel, which was torpedoed on 27 November 1944. More than 2,500 people lost their lives in this disaster, a large number of whom were Russian prisoners of war.

Another part of the cemetery also contains graves of other nationalities and is known as the International War Cemetery. It is a collective cemetery where graves from many other locations in Norway have been brought.

The cemetery contains 826 individual graves and a mass grave with 6,725 victims.
