In loving memory of George, son of Thomas and Eliza Appleton of Thirsk, Trooper, South African Constabulary, Who died in hospital, at Bloenfontein, June 13th 1902, aged 22 years. This tablet is erected by his mother. "Fight the good fight."

Trooper George Appleton, who gave his life on 13 June 1902 in the South-African War (2nd Boer War).
