Commonwealth War Graves Protestant Cemetery Grevenbicht

This Protestant Cemetery contains two Commonwealth War Graves from the Second World War.
These are the graves of:

Leading Aircraftman Arthur Barnes, 1490482, RAF 2726 Sqdn. R.A.F. Regt., died 25-11-1944, age 21
Leading Aircraftman Reginald Victor John Payne, 1298147, R.A.F. 2726 Sqdn. R.A.F. Regt., died 02-12-1944, age unknown.

Both casualties were volunteers in the Royal Air Force. Their plane was returning from a bombing raid in southern Germany when they were shot down over Limburg's territory by German anti aircraft guns (Flak).

Because Limburg was liberated at that point and it was not clear what religion they had, they were buried on the Protestant cemetery in Grevenbicht.
