Monument Convention Of Tauragé

Monument erected in 2012 near the spot where the Convention of Tauroggen was signed in December 1812 between the Prussian General J.H. von Yorck and the Russian General H.K. von Diebitsch, thus accelerating the downfall of the French dictator Napoleone Bonaparte. The present granite cube is exactly identical to the one erected in 1912 on the initiative of the great-grandson of General von Yorck, but destroyed in 1944 by the Red Army.
