Monument to Joe Huntley Marlow

Along the Klaas Kloosterweg-West near Staphorst is a monument to Joe Huntley Marlowe, the aviator who died on that spot on December 6, 1944.
On that day, the German anti-aircraft guns brought down a B-17G. Of the nine crew members, only 19-year-old Joe Huntley Marlowe did not survive. His parachute did not open.
