Remembrance chapel August Snoecx Langdorp

Memorial chapel for the murdered resistance fighter August Snoecx in Langdorp (Aarschot).

The facts
On the black plate attached to the memorial chapel for August Snoecx; we read: "Here was cowardly murdered by the Gestapo on 8/30/1944 ...". In the recognition file n ° 32316/1340/1323 of the Ministry of Reconstruction it states: "he has the right to posthumous title to the title of Political Prisoner". In both cases, the details of the story are missing. August Snoecx witnessed a robbery by armed resistance at the post office in Testelt. In the middle of the night of August 29-30, 1944, he was lifted out of his bed by four men of the Black Brigade and taken away in a car. The next morning, his body, riddled with bullets, was found along the stone road to Langdorp.

About the chapel
His wife Sidonia Boonen was left with five children, a cafe and three cows. At the place where August was murdered, she buys 4m2 of land and has this chapel erected.
