Memorial Lieutenant Félix Louis Liedel

Félix-Louis Liedel was born on July 29, 1888 in Anderlecht.
In 1908 he was admitted to the Military School. On March 25, 1911, he became a second lieutenant in the infantry. He showed a great interest in the emerging Military Aviation.
On March 14, 1914, he received his military pilot's license in Brasschaat.
On June 27, 1914, Liedel was killed in an accident with a Henri Farman HF-20 Jéro in Martelange, a broken tension cable got into the engine and the pilot lost control of his plane at a height of 30 meters.
At the scene of the accident, he was cared for by a doctor and taken to the military hospital in Arlon where he died on June 28 at 00:15.
Liedel was buried in his hometown, but on May 31, 1931 he already received a monument in Arlon, the garrison town where he had taken off for his last flight.
