Memorial "Jonction Américaine 16.1.1945"

The Rensiwez bridge in Engreux is the place where the 'Bulge' was closed.
Along the road you can see a steep rock to which three signs are attached.

"Counter-offensive en Ardenne: ici le 16.1.1945.
des libérateurs U.S. 84E DI. & 11E DB ont fait connection.
SI. des 2 Ourthes 16.1.1995 "

Here on Jan 16, 1945
the Bulge was wiped out
by the junction of
the 84th inf.div. and the 11th. A.D. "

At this point, Rensiwez, the connection was made between the US 2nd Armored Division and the 84th Infantry Division, of the First Army, with the 11th Armored Division of Patton's Third Army on January 16, 1945.
With this, the 'bulge' (the Bulge) was cut off from the push to the west by the Germans.
