Memorial Henry de Boubée

Between the greenery next to the road is the memorial:

"Memory of Colonel Henry de Boubée de Gramont
of the French 6th Regiment Hunters on Horse.
Gloriously fallen at this place at the head
of his regiment on August 25, 1914
along with Lieutenant Colonel
Maurice SANSON of the same regiment ".

Born in Auch (Fr.) on October 10, 1858.
Initially a volunteer, later a military career in the cavalry.

At the beginning of the war, Henry de Boubée was responsible for protecting the convoys and artillery of the 1st Chasseurs d'Afrique.
Surprised by a German battery that opened fire from very close range, he was killed along with Lieutenant Colonel Sanson and many officers and cavaliers of his regiment.
