Soviet War Cemetery Žiežmariai

In the center of the town of Žiežmariai is a Soviet war cemetery from WWII. In the center of the cemetery is the statue of the Soviet soldier with the flag. There are no individual graves marked, but on both sides of the statue are tableaux with the names of nearly 600 soldiers who fell here in the region in the period 1944-1945. A monument to the right of the cemetery also commemorates 318 unidentified soldiers buried here. To the left of the cemetery is also a memorial stone, the text of which is unfortunately no longer legible. Finally, two tableaux are attached to the base of the statue of the soldier, these tableaux commemorate a sergeant and a captain who fell as "Hero of the Soviet Union".
