Memorials First World War Baelen

Four memorial plaques commemorating the victims of the First World War were placed on the facade of the former town hall of Baelen. Only three contain the names of the sixteen executed civilians, of six soldiers killed on the front, one soldier who died in captivity and two who died of their wounds. The fourth plate is empty and was probably applied for aesthetic reasons. Each hard stone slab is topped with a bronze header depicting a Belgian lion and the words 'N'OUBLIEZ JAMAIS' ('Never forget').
