War Memorial Cemetery Mesum

In the cemetery is a monument in memory of those who died during the 1st and 2nd World War. On 6 bronze plaques the names of the killed inhabitants. Furthermore, a plaque explains that in 1923 a monument was erected elsewhere in Mesum on Sarvatiplein for the victims during the 1st world war. in 1959 this monument was abandoned and removed. The current memorial was erected in 1962, eventually containing the names of the victims of both wars.

Also an inscription on 1 of the plaques;
"Not violence but self-sacrificing love creates peace"
