Memorial Plaques and Bench Operation Dynamo 1940

At the entrance to De Panne Town Hall is a bench donated by the 1940 Dunkirk Veterans Association of Stoke-on-Trent.
This is dedicated to private Bertie John Garwood of the 2nd Battalion Middlesex Regiment who was killed in action on June 1, 1940, he was 27 years old. Garwood is buried at Marquise Communal Cemetery in France, Section 1, Row A, Grave, 9

Also in the entrance hall of the town hall of De Panne are two memorial plaques dedicated to Operation Dynamo in De Panne. One commemorates that this was the headquarters of General Gort, this plaque originally hung in the old town hall which was located across the street.
The other commemorates the efforts of the British and Allies in May and June 1940.
