Memorial Secret Army

On the wall of Corbion's cemetery hangs a memorial stone to some members of the Secret Army.

" Reminder of
Albert PEESSE of Corbion and Joseph LACOUR of Paris
members of the Secret Army,
cowardly murdered in this neighborhood by the German SS
the night of 6 to 7 May 1944
and Joseph PEESSE of Corbion
Sergeant of the Secret Army
fallen on the field of honor in Jannée on 28-8-1944.
Founded 9-9-1945"

Albert PEESSE and Joseph LACOUR, both unarmed, were shot by the Germans in front of the cemetery wall at night.

Joseph PEESSE was killed in Jannée during a battle between units of the secret army and German troops.

All three were members of the Secret Army, Zone 5, Sector 5, Group A.
Zone V was the area of the right bank of the Maas, sector 5 group A was active in the region Ciney – Spontin – Dinant.
