Monument First World War Stolberg

This monument in Stolberg on Ellermühlenstraße commemorates the victims of the First World War. The text on the monument was written by Joseph Freiherr von Eichendorff and reads as follows:

"Und wo immer müde Fechter
Sinken im mutigen Strauß,
Es kommen frische Geschlechter
Und fechten es ehrlich aus."

(And wherever tired fencers Sink in the brave bout, Fresh generations come And fight it out honestly.)
