Memorial Aircraft Crashes Jisp

This memorial is located along the cycle-path between the Kanaaldijk and the Jisperdijkje. It commemorates three crashed which took place in the direct surroundings in World War II:

Lancaster ED 554, on 9 April 1943 (all 7 crewmembers killed)
Halifax HR 786, on 13 May 1943 (all 7 crewmembers killed)
Liberator B-24, on 6 March 1944 (4 crewmembers killed, 6 crewmembers survived)

The propeller is the actual propeller from ED554. ED554 was shot down by Sgt Heinz Vinke - nightfighter pilot.
