Fallschirmjäger Memorial

This monument is an original German monument from the Second World War commemorating the German paratroopers who died in Maleme, Galatas, Kastelli, and Chania during the Battle of Crete between 20 and 28 May 1941.

The memorial is also known as Germaniko Pouli (German Bird). Until 2000 a stone eagle stood on it. Nowadays the memorial is seriously damaged by vandalism.
