Artillery Battery Tunnel Tavannes Fleury-devant-Douaumont

The Tavannes Tunnel Battery, also known as Battery 8-6, is a former artillery battery located near the Tavannes Tunnel.
Built in 1881, it was initially equipped with two 220mm mortars and one 220mm smoothbore mortar.
Decommissioned in 1900, it served as an ammunition depot and troop shelter during the Battle of Verdun.
It includes three firing platforms and a cross-shaped shelter. These are the only remnants visible today.
