In various places in the old town, these stones mark the boundary of the former Jewish ghetto of Lublin. From its establishment in March 1941 until its closure in November 1942, approximately 34,000 people lived in this ghetto. Almost all of the inhabitants, including not only Jews but also a number of Roma and Sinti, were murdered in the Belzec and Majdanek camps.
