Crash Site Vickers Wellington Mk X HE545 AS-H

On Monday, 29 March 1943, the Vickers Wellington HE545 AS-H of RAF 166 Squadron crashed at this location. The aircraft had taken off from RAF Kirmington a few hours earlier and was shot down by Major Werner Streib's Messerschmidt Bf110 night fighter, which belonged to 1/NJG 1, flying from Venlo airfield. The entire five-man crew was killed in the crash:
