The Sandgate War Memorial commemorates 46 men from WW1 and 15 from WW2 who gave their lives. The land marks the spot a German bomb landed during a Gotha bomber raid on 25th May 1917. The Red Cross purchased the land and bequeathed it to the Urban District Council and the monument was unveiled on 11th May 1921.
