Command Post 4-4 R.H.

On May 10, 1940, this former train station in Eerbeek housed the command post of the 4th Squadron, 4th Hussar Regiment. During a German invasion, they were responsible for destroying 15 bridges over the Apeldoorn-Dieren Canal.

On May 10, 1940, at approximately 1:00 AM, the platoon commanders were ordered to attach the detonators to the placed explosive charges.

The first bridge was destroyed around 5:37 AM, and the last bridge was destroyed by the 4th Platoon around 4:00 PM. The other three platoons had already withdrawn towards Utrecht.

Destroying the railway bridge at Dieren was not part of the order, but it was also destroyed at the initiative of Second Lieutenant J. Bosschieter.

The commander of this unit was Captain Jhr. Mr. C.L. van Beijma thoe Kingma.
