This bell, cast in 1609, hung in the tower of the Grote Kerk in Opheusden until it was blown up by Dutch troops as a precautionary measure in May 1940. The bell fell to the ground and was damaged and out of tune as a result of the fall. Nevertheless, it continued to serve during the war in a wooden bell frame. First for the wooden temporary church and later for the restored church. When the restored church received a new bell in 1972, the old bell was moved to the Town Hall. First in the hall and later in front of the building.
