Resistance Memorial Saint-Bonnet-près-Riom

This memorial commemorates a battle that took place here in the morning of August 16, 1944. A group of 13 guerrillas of the resistance group "Franc de Truands" came on this site "Le Creux du Rocher" in the commune of Saint Bonnet, in battle with a German colonne.
Nine resistance fighters were killed, three managed to escape and one was captured. A farmer who was working nearby, Michel Servol, was also killed. The bodies of the victims were transported to the town of Saint Bonnet and temporarily buried in the municipal cemetery.
