Commonwealth War Graves Churchyard Mariahout

In a separate plot located in the graveyard of Mariahout are two Commonwealth war graves. These are the graves of Lieutenant David Neale Stride and Trooper Jack Crompton of the Royal Dragoons, Royal Armoured Corps. Their deaths took place during Operation Market Garden, the British were supporting the U.S. 101st Airborne Division in the Battle for the Corridor. During this mission the two men walked into a German ambush at the river Zuid-Willemsvaart near Keldonk. Both men were simultaneously hit by German machine gun fire when they showed up at the Zuid-Willemsvaart. This all happened under the watchful eye of the Americans from across the water who tried to warn the two Britons of the impending danger. Unfortunately for the two men the warning was too late, before they realized what was going on, they were already hit.

The graves are well kept and are in a nice plot.
