Fortified Region of Silesia - Strongpoint "Dąbrówka Wielka"

The strongpoint "Dąbrówka Wielka" is the oldest and largest concentration of defence works of the Fortified Region of Silesia. The construction began in 1933, only 2 miles from the German border. Men of the 11th Infantry Regiment and 23th Regiment Light Artillery were stationed here. The strongpoint was abandoned in the night of 2-3 September 1939 and saw no action at all.

"Dąbrówka Wielka" today:
The strongpoint survived the time and can be visited. The complex consists of 17 defence works (including 9 bunkers and 2 main shelters).
