Remains RAF Desborough

This runway was part of the airforce base RAF Desborough, which was operational in World War II. RAF Desborough was an Operational Training Unit during the war flying mainly Wellington and Martinet aircraft. For a short time after the war the USAF used it flying Dakotas.

There were no secret operations carried out from RAF Desborough, as these were flown from RAF Harrington about 6 miles away and known as Carpetbaggers.
