War Cemetery Veurne

The Allied extension of Veurne Communal Cemetery contains 77 Commonwealth burials of the Second World War, almost all of which date from the last two or three days of May 1940 when the British Expeditionary Force withdrew to a small area around Dunkirk.

This plot also contains two Czechoslovakian War graves of the Second World War.

The Allied cemetery extesion also includes French war graves from the First and the Second World War. In one corner of the French cemetery, there is also a mass grave containing the remains of 78 French soldiers. These are mainly soldiers of the "Fusilliers Marins" but also men from other units.

A number of Belgian resistance fighters and victims of war violence are also buried here.
