Commonwealth War Grave Roman Catholic Cemetery Oud-Empel

The Roman Catholic Cemetery of Oud-Empel contains one Commonwealth burial. This is the grave of Kenneth Baldwin Alcock (14357720) of the Royal Army Medical Corps Attd. The Argyll and Sutherland Highlanders. Alcock was killed on November 5, 1944 during the liberation of Empel. It was a 15 minutes during grenade fire of the Scots that conquered the village, in this fight Alcock was killed. Probably his body was in a place that was hard to reach or still under fire from the other side of the river Maas. For that reason his body decomposed and that's why is burried at this location. Virtually all British liberators of Den Bosch and area are buried in Uden and Bergen-op-Zoom. Alcock served in a Scottish army unit but he was from Hampshire in England.
