Stumbling Stones Gaußstraße 14

These memorial stones (so called Stolpersteine of stumbling blocks) commemorate:
Erna Mannheimer (born 1891, murdered in Sobibor)
Erich Mannheimer (born 1920, murdered on 7-5-1942)
Jakob May (born 1886, murdered in Majdanek)
Nathan Gottlieb (born 1862, murdered in Theresienstadt on 1-10-1943)
Erna May (born 1895, murdered in Sobibor)
Hugo Moses (born 1888, murdered in Auschwitz on 7-2-1943)
Helene Neuhaus (born 1909, murdered in Sobibor on 7-5-1943)
Justin Jakob Neuhaus (born 1900, murdered in Sobibor on 21-5-1943)
Peter David Neuhaus (born 1938, murdered in Sobibor on 7-5-1943)
Salomon Wald (born 1882, murdered in Jasenovac on 27-11-1941)

The small copper plaques, in the pavement in front of houses of which the (mostly Jewish) residents were murdered by the Nazis, mention the name, date of birth and place (mostly a concentration camp) and date of death.

In many other cities, mainly in Germany but also in other European countries, the memorials also can be found. There are already many thousands of these plaques and their number is still counting. Almost all Stolpersteine are laid by the German artist himself, Gunter Demnig.
