Stumbling Stones Bernauer Straße 3

These memorial stones (so called Stolpersteine of stumbling blocks) commemorate:
Isidor Abraham (born 1878, escaped)
Hedwig Abraham (born 1873, died in Amsterdam on 2-3-1941)
Ilse Friedmann (born 1909, escaped)
Kurt Abraham (born 1907, escaped)
Erna Abraham (born 1889, murdered in Auschwitz)
Martin Abraham (born 1919, murdered in Warschau)
Beate Abraham (born 1923, murdered in Warschau)
Irene Sieburth (born 1937, murdered in Warschau)
Kurt Hoffmann (born 1921, escaped)
Martin Lewinsohn (born 1875, murdered in Theresienstadt on 30-4-1943)
Klara Lewinsohn (faith unknown)
Siegbert Lewinsohn (born 1904, murdered in Buchenwald on 30-4-1943)
Margarete Mausolf (born 1876, murdered in Theresienstadt on 11-5-1944)

The small brass plaques, in the pavement in front of houses of which the (mostly Jewish) residents were persecuted or murdered by the Nazis, mention the name, date of birth and place (mostly a concentration camp) and date of death.

In many other cities, mainly in Germany but also in other European countries, the memorials also can be found. There are already many thousands of these plaques and their number is still counting. Almost all Stolpersteine are laid by the German artist himself, Gunter Demnig.
