Stumbling Stone Petristraße 3 and 5

This memorial stone (so called Stolperstein of stumbling block) commemorates:

Petristraße 3:
Rosalie Brandenstein (born 1863, deported 1942, murdered in Theresienstadt 23 December 1942)
Johanna Löwy ((born 1866, murdered in Theresienstadt in 1942)
Emma Brandenstein (born 1866, deported 1942, murdered in Theresienstadt 1942)
Hugo Brandenstein (born 1872, deported 1942, murdered in Theresienstadt 1942)
Max Brandenstein (born 1874, deported 1942, murdered in Auschwitz)
Julius Brandenstein (born 1877, deported 1942, fled into death in Theresienstadt 15th July 1942)
Sally Brandenstein (born 1879, fled to Shanghai 1939)

Petristraße 5:
Jenny Eisenberg (born 1859, deported 1941, murdered in Chelmo/Kulmhof 1942)
Marieke Friederike Eisenberg (born 1883, deported 1941, murdered in Chelmno/Kulmhof 1942)

The small brass plaques, in the pavement in front of houses of which the (mostly Jewish) residents were persecuted or murdered by the Nazis, mention the name, date of birth and place (mostly a concentration camp) and date of death.

In many other cities, mainly in Germany but also in other European countries, the memorials also can be found. There are already many thousands of these plaques and their number is still counting. Almost all Stolpersteine are laid by the German artist himself, Gunter Demnig.
