These memorial stones (so called Stolpersteine of stumbling blocks) commemorate:

Günther Brackemeier (born 1914, drowned with the Cap Arcona on 3-5-1945)
Helmut Büdgen (born 1902, murdered in Außenlager Bremen on 11-5-1943)
Walter Cardis (born 1888, murdered in Neuengamme on 7-4-1943)
Wilhelm Christen (born 1907, died after imprisonment on 3-6-1945)
Karl Drischler (born 1905, murdered in Griebo bei Coswig on 8-1-1941)
Walter Hoffmann (born 1895, murdered in Sachsenhausen on 13-2-1940)
Kurt Jensen (born 1912, murdered in Sachsenhausen on 20-10-1940)
Johann Kurz (born 1911, murdered in Natzweiler on 5-12-1942)
Johannes Lehnau (born 1902, murdered in Langenhorn on 15-5-1939)
Walter Makowski (born 1915, murdered in Neuengamme on 29-12-1941)
Fritz Marquardt (born 1916, murdered in Dora-Mittelbau on 3-4-1944)
Karl-Heinz Rothbarth (born 1914, murdered in Neuengamme on 2-4-1943)
August Schlösser (born 1914, murdered in Langenstein-Zwieberge on 2-3-1945)
Franz Schwarzl (born 1879, murdered in Mauthausen on 23-3-1943)
Elmar Wagner (born 1884, murdered in Sachsenhausen on 10-7-1942)

The small brass plaques, in the pavement in front of houses of which the (mostly Jewish) residents were persecuted or murdered by the Nazis, mention the name, date of birth and place (mostly a concentration camp) and date of death.

In many other cities, mainly in Germany but also in other European countries, the memorials also can be found. There are already many thousands of these plaques and their number is still counting. Almost all Stolpersteine are laid by the German artist himself, Gunter Demnig.
