Tranchée de la Soif (Trench of Thirst)

This German fortified trench saw heavy fighting during the First World War. It was captured by the French on 20 May 1915, who defended it, while cut off, against numerous German counter attacks until 22 May 1915. The trench is known as the "Tranchée de la Soif" ("Trench of thirst").
