The Memorial for Lieutenant A. Vreeken is erected to commemorate the 1st Lieutenant of the 16th Regiment Infantry, who died on 11 May 1940.

The middle part of the memorial stone contains the names of 17 soldiers (including Vreeken) of the 16th Infantry Regiment who fell in the May days of 1940 and of 3 soldiers who died in captivity.

The Monument and grave is located at the 'Rusthof' cemetery not near the war graves but as a normal, private grave.
