Memorial Stone Camp Amersfoort

At the Loes van Overeemlaan (formerly named Appelweg), at the start of the pathway to the statue "Prisoner facing the firing squad" and the mortuary a memorial plaque has been placed. The designer of the text on the stone is H.J. Meijer, secretary to the committee "Monument Kamp Amersfoort". The stone has been made by masonry C.M. Lablans in the city of Amersfoort during the fall of 1952. The column has been placed on the initiative of the Committee for the Prisoners (of Camp Amersfoort) and has been paid for by the remnants of the collection for the National Monument (on the Dam in Amsterdam).

The text on the stone can be translated as follows:
Those who were
killed here
during the years 1940 – 1945
have made sacred this soil
with their blood.
Lest their sacrifice be an
illuminating example
for the posterity.
