The permanent exhibition 'The house of '40 - '45' immerses you in everyday life during the invasion, the occupation and the liberation of West Flanders. Uniquely, the museum was built as a house in the 40s and is based on personal experiences. The necessary interviews for this were conducted. The aim is to outline the circumstances in which people lived during those days. We focus on everyday life, the collaboration, the resistance and repression. With this we try to fill in a gap in museum landscape where particular much attention is paid to the military history.
