Maginot Line - Fort Métrich

The Maginot Line's Métrich fortress was a component of the Secteur fortifié de Thionville.

The French garrison consisted of 769 soldiers and 26 officers from the 167th RIF (Fortress Infantry Regiment). The principal mission of Métrich was to cover the Moselle valley.

The fort when In German hands, was attacked by elements of the U.S. 90th Infantry Division on 10 November 1944. The garrison surrendered on 12 November.

The fort today:
It is currently abandoned.
