Maginot Line - Ouvrage Saint Ours Haut

The Maginot ouvrage Saint Ours Haut is part of the Secteur Fortifié du Dauphiné and is one of the larger works. The garrison consisted of 240 men. On June 20, 1940, the Italian invasion of the Alpine region began. The 75mm turret gun from the Roche-la-Croix ouvrage, together with the 75mm mortar from Saint-Ours Haut, brought the Italian advance to a standstill. Saint-Ours had only one 75mm mortar with a firing range of 5900m, while the Tourelle of Roche-la-Crox shot 10,000m.
